Finalists
In the course of the StrangerFestival 2008 we received over 1000 videos from all over the world! All entries to strangerfestival.com competed for the StrangerAwards 2008: the Official StrangerAward 2008, the MTV STrangerAward, The Audience Award and the Amsterdam Award. In the pre-selection, 65 videos were selected by video, film and media students. These videos were presented to the juries who then made the finalist selection and chose the winnner. The Audience award finalists were chosen by the visitors of this website.
The winners of the Audience Award and the Amsterdam Award were chosen by you by ranking the winners for the Audience Awards on this website. It was also possible to vote live for the winner of the Amsterdam Award during the StrangerFestival in the Westergasfabriek.

The Amsterdam Award is an award for the best Dutch video. At the StrangerFestival the final 5 videos will be presented. The audience can vote live during the StrangerFestival for their favourite video. The most popular video will win the Amsterdam Award.
Finalists for the Audience Award are selected by website visitors. By voting online they select 6 finalists. Voting starts May 16 after the closing of competitions (deadline for uploading) and ends June 15. You can vote for your favourite finalist till an hour before handing out the award. So check out these videos and vote!
Best of the world is an open category. Any topic, theme or genre is allowed as long as the maker believed their one minute video is the best of the world. The finalists for this category are selected by mr. Hiroaki Sato and mr. Joseph Fadel.
This category is about the fine line between being included or excluded. It's about stereotypes and prejudices and ways to overcome these. The finalists are selected by mr. Tarek Atoui and ms. Oana Koulpy.
These videos are about who you are and what you stand for. What are the makers dreams, fascinations, fears, hopes and passions? The jury ms. Meike Statema and ms. Ionela Costachi selected the best videos.
MTV has a history in showing and producing the best cutting edge creative work worldwide. That´s why there are no limits in this category. The jury mr. Dylan Griffith and mr. Taco Zuidema look for something daring and refreshing in a video, so check there selection.
The winner of StrangerAward 2008 is the video that moves, challenges, excites or even attacks. The jury ms. Nirit Peled and mr. David Hemmingway look for views and stories they have not heard before. All 6 finalists are invited to Amsterdam 3-5 July for the StrangerFestival (including transport & stay). Winners are awarded at the festival. All finalists are featured as part of the European exhibition-on-tour and on a DVD distributed in 20.000 copies across Europe.
